Design Approach
For this children's book illustration, I focused on creating a character that visually represents the story's core message: appearances can be misleading. Riko's thorny design communicates uniqueness and strength, while his soft expressions and rounded features make him approachable for young readers.
The illustrations use warm colors, simple compositions, and expressive characters to support storytelling and maintain engagement for children aged 6–8 years old.
